Alignment of Farinon FV-series Microwave Radios

FM Audio Subcarrier Transmitter - SD60302

Frequency: Connect a frequency counter capable of at least 10 MHz to the LINE MON jack of FM CHAN XMTR. Indication should be within ±20 kHz of assigned subcarrier frequency. If not, adjust L301. (Note: keep core of L301 near top end of coil.)
TestTest PointMethod #1 - HP-4300A Electronic VoltmeterMethod #2 - 15 MHz Scope
Carrier Level
(No audio in)
LINE MON (BNC) 25 mV rms Term in 75 ohms 150 mV P-P (unterm)
If not, adust R34 on board
Level
(with +8 dBm @ 1 kHz audio in)
INPUT MON (BNC) 970-1000 mV rms (unterm) 2.8 V P-P (unterm)
No adjustment, if wrong, check input termination strapping
Deviation
(with +8 dBm @ 1 kHz audio in)
[200 kHz peak deviation]
DEV MON (BNC) 94 mV rms (unterm) 280 mV P-P (unterm)
If not, adjust "DEV ADJ" (front panel)

FM Audio Subcarrier Receiver - SD60303

TestTest PointMethod #1 - HP-4300A Electronic VoltmeterMethod #2 - 15 MHz Scope
Level
(with +8 dBm @ 1 kHz audio into transmitter)
OUTPUT MON (BNC) 970-1000 mV rms (unterm) 2.8 V P-P (unterm)
If not, adjust "LEV ADJ" (front panel)

Video Monitor/Pilot Demod - SD60365

  1. Adjust two (2) capacitors on either side of "N" connector for best frequency response (tuning discriminator).
  2. Set "video level" for proper output
  3. Press "pilot alarm" (6 dB loss) and adjust "pilot gain" so that pilot alarm just goes on.
